Privacy Policy
Effective date: 18 May 2026 Last updated: 18 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how 7awel ("7awel," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information. 7awel is operated by 1001493490 Ontario Inc., a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada, doing business as "7awel."
This policy applies to our mobile app, website, and related services. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service.
1. A note on our non-custodial model
7awel uses multi-party computation (MPC) wallet technology. You control your wallet, and 7awel does not hold or have access to your complete private keys. We do hold a recovery credential associated with your wallet so we can help you regain access if you lose your credentials; we treat that credential as sensitive security information (see Sections 4 and 7, and Section 6 of the Terms of Service).
2. Information we collect
Identity verification — how it works. The licensed partners we work with use identity verification providers (such as Sumsub, and others we may engage in the future) to verify your identity. When you complete verification, you provide your identity information and documents — including your name, date of birth, nationality, residential address, government-issued identification, and a photo or selfie — directly to the verification provider through that flow, not to 7awel. We receive the result of the verification and the limited identifying information needed to operate your account and meet our legal obligations.
Information you provide directly to us:
- Contact details: email address, phone number, and similar contact information.
- Recipient details: information you enter about the people you send to, such as their name, contact details, and payout information. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to share recipient information with us.
- Communications: messages you send us for support, including through messaging channels such as WhatsApp.
Information we collect automatically when you use 7awel:
- Transaction data: amounts, currencies, timing, status, and references for transfers you initiate.
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, language settings, and interactions with the app and website.
- Log and technical data: IP address, identifiers, and diagnostic data needed to operate and secure the service.
Information we receive from third parties:
- Identity verification and screening results: outcomes of identity verification, sanctions and politically-exposed-person screening, and fraud checks, together with limited identifying information needed to operate your account (such as your name, date of birth, and country), from verification providers and partners.
- Partner confirmations: status and confirmation information from the licensed financial partners that process deposits and payouts.
We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health or religious beliefs). Some government identification documents may contain additional information; the verification providers handle that data, and we receive only what is needed for verification and compliance.
3. How and why we use your information
We use personal information to:
- provide and operate the service, including initiating transfers and showing transaction status;
- verify your identity and meet anti-money-laundering, sanctions, and other legal and regulatory obligations;
- detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- send service-related communications, and — where permitted — updates about features;
- maintain, improve, and develop the service; and
- enforce our Terms and protect our legal rights.
Legal bases (for users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom). We rely on: performance of a contract with you; compliance with legal obligations; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service; and your consent where it applies (for example, certain cookies or optional communications). Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
4. How we share your information
We share personal information only as needed to run the service and meet our obligations:
- Licensed financial partners who process deposits, execute payouts, and complete cash withdrawals in the markets we serve.
- Identity verification, screening, and fraud-prevention providers engaged by us or by our licensed partners (such as Sumsub).
- Technology and infrastructure providers, including wallet infrastructure, cloud hosting, and messaging providers, who process data on our behalf under contract.
- Regulators, law enforcement, and other authorities where required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
- Professional advisers such as legal counsel and auditors, under confidentiality obligations.
- In a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or financing, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
5. International data transfers
7awel operates from Canada and serves users in several countries. Personal information may be processed in Canada, in the European Economic Area, and in the countries where our licensed payout partners operate. These countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.
Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers — for example, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA — and we share only the information necessary to complete your transaction and meet legal requirements. [CONFIRM: safeguards wording with counsel]
6. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal obligations. Identity, verification, and transaction records are subject to anti-money-laundering record-keeping requirements and are generally retained for at least five years after the end of our relationship with you, or longer where the law requires. [CONFIRM: retention period with counsel]
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.
7. How we protect your information
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption, access controls, and monitoring. The recovery credential associated with your wallet is held under additional safeguards. No system is completely secure, and you also play a role: keep your account credentials and device secure, and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete your information, subject to our legal retention obligations;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it; and
- complain to a data-protection authority.
Canada: you may contact us to access or correct your information, and you may raise concerns with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. EEA / UK: you may exercise the rights above and complain to your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any right, contact us using Section 12. We may need to verify your identity first, and some rights are limited where we have a legal obligation to keep certain records (for example, anti-money-laundering records).
9. Automated processing
Parts of our identity verification and sanctions or fraud screening are automated, because the law requires these checks. If an automated check affects your ability to use 7awel, you may ask for human review by contacting us.
10. Children's privacy
7awel is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you. The "last updated" date at the top shows when this policy was last revised.
